Being an Introvert

I have always found myself pondering upon this thought – Am I an Introvert or an Extrovert? I have been through a lot of phases, from being an introvert teenager to an extrovert young adult. Now, when I look back – I find myself believing that when I was trying to be an extrovert – I was just trying to ‘fit-in’. I am blessed with beautiful sets of friends and family. I am always left wondering, how do I always end up being friends with party people when I myself do not like being in crowd.

I have partied like crazy at times, not because I like dancing all night long, but because I enjoy the company of my friends. You know may be the before and after-time of head-banging on loud music. I am prone to anxiety. I have had anxiety attacks on tubes, crowdy events. I once started crying in the Delhi metro because I couldn’t deal with the chaos.

I am not a conversation starter. I do not like to initiate a conversation, but once I am in it – there’s no looking back. I can sit by my own in a coffee shop for hours, with a company of a nice book. I am not a dancer - the person with two left feet. Instead of discussing with anyone, I prefer writing down my sentiments in a diary. I avoid responding ‘yes’ to invitations where I don’t know anyone.

I have covered the journey of trying to be an extrovert to preferring being an introvert. I enjoy the time with myself, and I prefer it over anyone else’s company. What’s better than that? Inn’t? ;)

Moving on, this week we went for a 5K marathon – Electrodash. Another experience noted down – dancing with a bunch of crazy people. After the run, a DJ was organised for the runners, and the only things visible in the arena were the neon bracelets, headbands floating around. Few pictures from the event –
